Tiny Space Engine

#1

This is an engine I designed for Zero-G its turning is based on Algae's design. (link below) This allowed for me to make it really small and compact, with all of the turning controls and propulsion you need. If you use it please give Algae and myself credit :)

Arrow keys for up, down left and right.
[t] forward
[f] roll left
[h] roll right

Block count: 26

Here is an example of a ship using it

I've never actually known how to make a steering system using wheels in the vehicle. The Phantom helicopter uses it but I've never taken it apart to see how it works.
Could anyone explain to me how this wheel-based vehicle rotation works?

I'm not sure either, with 2 wheels at 200 it turns slightly and drifts back. With 3 wheels I had to turn them down to 180.

I guess its that it reverses the input and spins the ship instead of the wheels. like if you where to place a drill against a wall and din't hold the drill tightly the drill would spin instead of the drill bit.

It's torque effect, I'm not gonna go nerdy but with every force their is an opposite and equal counterforce, so when the wheels spin, they also put a force to spin the machine in the opposite direction :)

Wait, are we allowed to use this to make our own little spaceships?
I've been having a [bold]little[/bold] bit of trouble with the turning on my spaceships...

Yep thats the idea. just treat it like a large block that does all of the space controls for you as long as you don't cover up where the steam comes out or attach blocks to the 4 suspension blocks.

You can replace the hinges with wood or ballasts if you want the extra connection points it won't affect the controls.

Please leave a credit in the description for Algae and myslef if you upload the creation.
